On Striding Edge

My personal interest in EFT began when I was looking for a cure for my own phobia of heights. I was due to go hill walking in the Lake District (UK), the proposed route including the top of a well known feature called "Striding edge", which is an arret: a high rocky crest with steep drops on either side. Scary, for me anyway!

I had previously seen Paul Mckenna on TV in the UK curing phobias of various kinds using a combination of NLP and hypnosis techniques, though in that series he was beginning to introduce what seemed at the time to be a strange "tapping" routine. So I searched the internet to learn what I could about phobia cures. I looked into NLP, found out about TFT ("Thought Field Therapy", which is a forerunner of EFT) and eventually came across EFT at Gary Craig's website emofree.com. Since Gary offers a free downloadable instruction manual I decided to suspend my disbelief and give EFT a try.

Looking back at the ridge

Using EFT in my own living room and imagining being in a high place only, I was able to reduce my fear such that when the real thing came along I was easily able to cope with it, something I could not otherwise have done. Note that the fear had not completely gone, but prior to EFT I would have rated the intensity of the fear at 9 out of 10. After the EFT it was down to 2 out of 10. The amount of benefit that I got from using EFT in an imagined situation only (in my own home) was very impressive to me. I was convinced of EFT's effectiveness on phobias at least, and motivated to learn more.

Level 1&2 class

I sent for and watched the instructional DVDs sold by Gary Craig (creator of EFT), then thought that it was time to take the plunge and attend a training course in order to increase the depth of my understanding. Finding that EFT master Karl Dawson was offering a combined level 1&2 course over in the West Midlands I decided to attend that at the next opportunity. This turned out to be an an excellent decision. As one of only 28 master level EFT practitioners worldwide, Karl is a great teacher and I found his course to be both hugely enjoyable and educational. Later I went on to take Karl's advanced practitioner and serious disease courses.

Since then I have continued to expand my knowledge and practical experience of EFT and related subjects, learning how to apply it in many different areas. I never cease to be amazed by this remarkable set of techniques and the benefits that they can bring.
